Global Eagle Airport Fuel Farm – LPIA Overview
01. Location
Global Eagle’s Airport Fuel Farm is located at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) in Nassau, New Providence Island, The Bahamas. The facility covers a built-up area of 122 ft by 105 ft, with surrounding land also managed by Global Eagle in partnership with Triton Global Petroleum Limited.
02. Purpose
This terminal is designed to receive, store, and distribute Jet A-1 and Avgas for aviation operations within LPIA.
03. The Tank Network
The facility includes seven stainless steel storage tanks with a combined capacity of 650,500 gallons, consisting of:
- • Jet A-1: 626,000 gallons
- • Avgas: 24,500 gallons
04. Tank Detection Systems
All tanks are equipped with level indicators for accurate inventory and monitoring.
05. Pipe Construction
The entire pipeline system is constructed from stainless steel to prevent contamination by corrosion. All valves are manually operated.
06. Fuel Supply from Truck Tanks
Jet A-1: Fuel is delivered via 10,000-gallon tanker trucks from Clifton Pier. Three compact pumping skids receive fuel from truck tanks and transfer it to the six Jet A-1 storage tanks, then to the refueling truck fleet.
Each skid includes:
- • Pump
- • Meter
- • Coalescer filter
- • Relaxing chamber
- • Delivery hoses
The combined skid capacity is 1,000 GPM (1 × 400 GPM and 2 × 300 GPM).
Avgas: Delivered via ISO tanks from Port Everglades, Florida. A dedicated skid pumps fuel into the 24,500-gallon Avgas tank (TK-H05), then to the refueling trucks.
The Avgas skid includes:
- • Pump
- • Meter
- • Coalescer filter
- • Relaxing chamber
- • Delivery hoses
Avgas skid capacity: 250 GPM
07. Control Room
The 40 ft × 23 ft control room manages all operations and signal processing from tanks and metering skids. It provides 440 V electrical power to pumps, lighting, and all facility equipment.
08. Fire Protection
The fire protection system includes a closed-loop 6” ring main with hoses and monitors, connected to the airport’s fire network. Additional safety features include fire/spill detectors, manual alarm stations, horns, and strobe lights.
09. Truck Fleet & Loading Stations
The facility includes 10 modern refueling trucks (5,000–10,000 gallon capacity), three Jet A-1 truck loading stations, and one dedicated Avgas loading station.
10. Operations Status
The Airport Fuel Farm at LPIA has been fully operational since January 9, 2017. The terminal is currently running at full capacity with no ongoing works at this time.
